At this year’s Hong Kong News Awards hosted by The Newspaper Society of Hong Kong, 78 prizes were handed out. China Daily Hong Kong emerged victorious at this year’s ceremony, snaring 17 accolades across various categories and winning big on public interest issues such as illegal structures added onto luxury properties. Mok Kwok-cheong and Billy Wong Siu-kay from China Daily’s page-design team won first runner-up and merit awards respectively in Best News Page Design (Series), while photographer Lam Yu-cheung took home first runner-up and merit awards in Best Sports Photography (Series).
The Hong Kong Prize aims to inspire students to conduct STEAM research projects within local communities in order to further their career development. The winner will receive HK$5000 as well as access to an expert mentor in STEAM research to assist with developing their research skills, while their projects will be published online for public view.
Quartet & First 4 Merged Pool and six race meetings will offer additional jackpots to players beyond the HK$20 million prize pool increase, including an expanded Triple Trio jackpot worth an incredible HK$18 million and increased Double Trio and Single Legs jackpots totalling a combined total of HK$2.8 million.
This year’s Hong Kong Prize honoured students who demonstrated an aptitude and desire to study engineering while making significant impacts in their schools and communities. Two students from schools located within New Territories were selected based on their outstanding achievements and leadership potential in studies and social work as well as an intention to pursue engineering careers.

Five Hongkongers have been nominated for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize. Jimmy Lai, Chow Hang-tung, Lee Cheuk-yan, Gwyneth Ho and Joshua Wong have all been recognized for their tireless work protecting freedoms in Hong Kong and promoting democracy.
At the Paris Games, athletes who win top three medals will receive incentives of HK$17 million under the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s three-year incentive programme. This comprehensive reward scheme will give our sportspeople more chances to compete at the highest levels and reach their fullest potential, as well as fulfilling its long-term commitment of supporting Olympic glory pursuit. This government-supported incentive will continue until 2024.
