Domino is a generic term referring to flat rectangular blocks used as gaming pieces. Popular games that utilize dominoes include matching and counting dots on each piece (or “block”) with matching or counting dots from another domino. Dominoes were traditionally made of ivory or dark hardwood such as ebony, with either black or white dots; more recent sets may use different materials like marble, soapstone, oak wood, brass pewter or even crystal as domino blocks; or they can even be arranged differently to create pieces of art such as pictures or sculptures by arranging them differently than how their original placement in various ways.
Domino has come to symbolize literary situations wherein one event’s effects cascade unstoppably into uncontrollable chain reactions, or simply refers to any series of events or actions taken that create dominoes effectually – usually when characters act against societal norms or their own powers.
The game of dominoes is straightforward: set up your line carefully, nudging one domino to fall, and watch as it sets off a cascade. There are various methods of setting up and nudging dominoes; builders often compete to set up elaborate domino effects or reactions for an audience.
Domino is a character from Marvel Comics superhero team X-Force. She is known as Domino and serves on her Six Pack team alongside time traveling mutant Cable. Domino was previously married to Milo Thurman until an A.I.M. raid forced them apart. Since that event she has become allies with Cable as she serves on his Six Pack team as well.
After serving one year in prison, Domino was released by Cable and reunited with her former Six Pack teammates Grizzly (Theodore Wincester) and Hammer (Eisenhower Canty). She soon joined X-Force at a Hong Kong branch of X-Corporation where she counteracted John Sublime’s Third Species mutant organ harvesting project under the guise of Copycat.
Domino joined X-Force after learning from Ekatarina Gryaznova (an unsavory CIA agent and X-Force ally) of her father’s existence and being hired by ULTIMATUM to investigate Rumekistan after it had been taken over by Flag-Smasher (Karl Morgenthau). Fearing Cable would revert to his former messianist ways, she attacked and destroyed his implants. Later she assisted a squad of mutants at an anti-human military base under the alias Armajesuits but was ultimately defeated by Psycho-Man and later captured by Donald Pierce’s Reavers cyborgs. Domino was held captive for a year by Copycat, whom she disliked due to resembling her from an earlier year of captivity. As reality-shifting fragments from Age of Apocalypse crossed into Earth reality, she and Cable found themselves living together and married – an event they knew nothing about beforehand.
