The Hongkong Prize and Science and Technology Innovation Prizes

Hongkong Prize is Asia’s premier writing competition, drawing participants from throughout Southeast Asia. Winners receive both monetary prizes and book vouchers; in addition to having an opportunity to showcase their talent at an awards ceremony. No matter if you are just starting out as a writer or have already established themselves professionally; participating can build your profile and increase career opportunities.

The Hong Kong Journal of Ophthalmology will award two prizes to original articles published during the year: (1) cash amounts of approximately HK$10 million (excluding entry fee), while (2) a chance at winning a jackpot worth several tens of millions of dollars; if there is no winner of the first prize, any excess funds will be added back into the jackpot for future draws until someone wins the 1st prize – this process may continue as long as no 1st prize winners exist and can reach 100 Million Hong Kong Dollars or beyond; (3) articles must be original (e.g. prospective or retrospective clinical studies, observational or epidemiological studies, basic science studies meta-analyses etc), case reports reviews or letters to editors will not be considered;

Hong Kong is an epicenter for culture and creativity, and Hong Kong artists excel at reflecting global changes through various forms of art. Nine local artists were recently shortlisted for this year’s Art Prize; many explored themes of honour and disgrace through their works; Pakistani artist Noormah Jamal created an oil painting depicting her house collapse like an empty cardboard box.

Winning this prize not only comes with financial remuneration, but it can also enhance your chances of securing employment in the sports industry. Gold medalists usually receive lifetime salaries of over HK$6 million; however, this sum pales in comparison with what Singaporean kitesurfer Maximilian Maeder will receive for winning gold in 2024 Olympic.

The BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize aims to promote scientific research, foster innovative scientists, and transform Hong Kong into an international innovation and technology hub. Sponsored by Bank of China, it recognizes individuals regardless of race, nationality, gender or religious affiliation for lifetime achievement awards or Early Career Contribution prizes; laureates will also receive cash awards of HK$2 Million with their research achievements displayed through interactive exhibits as part of an award ceremony celebration.
