The BOCHK Prize – The Best Science and Technology Innovation Prize in Asia
HK Prize is one of Asia’s premier high school competitions that recognize both academic excellence and extracurricular participation. The competition fosters students’ creativity by giving them opportunities to showcase their writing. Not only can finalist win monetary prizes; by participating they also build up writing portfolios and gain exposure in literary world. It is crucial that applicants carefully read all rules and regulations before submitting an application form.
Documentary filmmaker Oksana Karpovych won a jury prize with her documentary Intercepted, which juxtaposes scenes of Ukraine both before and after Russia invaded with phone conversations between Russian and Ukrainian soldiers. Wong Sui-pong’s Obedience also explored Hung Hom district microcosm. For drama films, Nick Cheuk’s Family Tragedy/Student Suicide won best new director award while Tse Yin-yau won leading actress award with Lam Tsz-yuen; while actor Tse Yin-yau won leading actress award with Lam Tsz-yuen about woman trying to balance happiness with caring for drug-addicted father.
The BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize is an annual prize awarded to scientists whose research has made a positive contribution to society. Open to researchers worldwide, selection for this prize occurs impartially without sponsorship or committee influence, with winners receiving both monetary awards as well as having their work displayed worldwide.
This year, an unprecedented record number of applications from around the globe were received and reviewed by experts from universities, government agencies, and companies involved. Winners will each be presented with prizes exceeding HK$500,000.
Hong Kong Alliance of Technology and Innovation’s Board, including its Review Committee, Compliance Oversight Team and Secretariat are responsible for reviewing and interpreting its articles; proposing key scientific research fields to consider for THE PRIZE; selecting members of Review Committee/COT; setting requirements of nominating experts; verifying and approving final review results before hosting an award ceremony ceremony at least twice annually. Usually this board will meet once every six months to make decisions and conduct the ceremony.
This esteemed event is an outstanding way to contribute to Hong Kong’s international development efforts. The winner can showcase their winning concept globally and have an impactful influence on lives across the globe. Additionally, Generocity will offer them a grant of HK$50,000 so their idea can become a sustainable project.
